So what is this website?
This is my personal website where I will be giving advice, and posting about general things I find on the internet. I will be posting information on things that I learn while I am trying to improve my business that I have started. My business name is Streamline Technology Solutions, STS provides social media integration, website design, and hosting. I am not going to be covering anything technology related on this blog, you can do that on my tech blog, though you can read it on CincyGeek.
The main goal for this blog is to share what I have learned with anyone who is willing to read this blog and hopefully take away something that they previously did not know and use it to better their company or themselves. I will try to update this blog once a week with a couple of posts here and there, but this site will not take precedence over Streamline Technology Solutions or CincyGeek.
Who is Joshua Combs
I am from Cincinnati Ohio, and I have loved computers ever since my grade school introduced them to us. We had the great Apple II and Apple Lisa’s which were used for the greats like Oregon Trail, and other education games. Then in third grade we got the new Microsoft 3.1 operating system in our school. I was in love with everything that it could do, from that point I needed to have a computer, and ever since then I have been enthralled with computer and always learning about them.
I was not a normal child growing up, most kids would bring in Sports Illustrated to school, but I was bringing in Office Max catalogs, computer magazines and other tech related content. My math teach once told me that he normally had to watch out for porn material from his students and to me technology magazines were my porn.
In 1998 I started a webpage on Maxpages and it was about me and at that time, my obsession with the Tuba. In 2001 I registered the domain name joshcombs.com with a internet service provider, who after my service was over with them sold my domain name to a third party source and tried to get me to purchase it for $2500.00 at that point I gave up on joshcombs.com and moved over to liquidninja.net.
I was able to secure the domain name joshcombs.com again in 2004 and I have owned it ever since. There have been other people who have tried to get me to give up my domain name, mainly some guy over in Europe who claimed he was from Interpol and was demanding that I did not own the rights to joshcombs.com, and the whole time he was emailing me from a @hotmail email address I was smart enough to know that Interpol did not use @hotmail email addresses and started to play games with him, and told him I would sell the domain name to him for $20,000 USD. Coincidently after that email I never got any correspondence from him again.
Liquid Ninja was my first attempt at becoming an entrepreneur and started my own website design and web hosting service. I was on a dedicated server and had full control over the server. I managed it all by myself and was forced to learn about linux rather quickly. I have found out over the years with computers and technology that I would rather dive in to a problem and try to fix it rather than be taught about it via a book.
I have been teaching my self Web Design, Social Media Integration and Website SEO over the years, and feel that I have enough knowledge now and ready to start serving clients with building their online presences through Social Media and through an online profile. I am currently a Geek Squad Agent and love my job with them, but I feel that I have learned everything that I can from Geek Squad and it is time for me to step out and do my own thing, or move on to another opportunity and learn a new role in another company.
